Quoted and Reported Speech

                                                                                                 Quoted Speech.
 

Quoted Speech is the sentence which reported a consideration in the words of others.

Example :

What did she look??

He said “i look our flower”.

  

                                                                                                                   Reported Speech.

Reported Speech is an indirect sentence is used to repeat the words of others.

Example :

• Siska said she was so happy everyday.
• The president said he needed a vacation.

Reported speech using the past tense of direct speech. if the direct speech in the present tense, then the reported speech must also be changed in the past tense, example :

Direct Speech - I said, “She is in her Kitchen.”
Reported Speech - I said “ She was in her Kitchen”.

And if the Direct Speech in the past tense, then the Reported Speech using the past perfect form,example :

Direct Speech - I said, “She was in her restaurant at dinner.”
Reported Speech - I said she had been in her restaurant at dinner. atau - I said she was in her restaurant at dinner.

Tya   :  Morning, Novi.

Novi   : Morning, Tya.

Tya   :  How’s everything today?

Novi   :  It’s okay,but..

Tya   :  What’s the metter,Novi?

          Are you not satisfied with reading that story?

Novi  :  Yeah. I’m a little dissatisfied with this story. The story makes me sleppy.

Tya   : Do you have any complaints?

Risa   : I don’t like the story. It is a lousy story.

Tya   : What are you complaining about?

Risa   : I’m a bit disappointed wiht the main character of the story. The story is  also a sad ending  story.

Tya   : Oh, I see. But dont worry,Risa. Be happy please. It’s just a story. You can read ohter stories that can make you happy.

Risa   : Yes, that’s good idea.

         Thanks for your suggestion,Tya.

Tya   : You’re welcome. By the way, I must go now, Risa.

         See you tomorrow at school.

Risa   : See you.
